Why should they force you to seek a sanctuary somewhere else?

In the influential and epic novel Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, a segment of society goes on strike. It is the most productive, virtuous, and heroic people of the world.

They go on strike against those who have gained power over them through corruption, collusion, politics, envy, manipulation, mob rule, moral hypocrisy, and greed, The innovators, traders, and producers create their own peaceful, prosperous, and rational community in a secret location called “Galt’s Gulch.” It is named after the mysterious person John Galt.

Who is John Galt? He is the person who persuaded the most virtuous people in society to stop enabling their destructive oppressors.

Those who have read or listened to the downfall of society in Atlas Shrugged often say it is prophetic. The novel was published in 1957, yet it is often said, with sarcasm, that it needs to be reclassified from fiction to nonfiction.

But today we have one pivotal aspect in which truth is stranger - and better - than fiction. People aren’t limited to physical spaces to build a new community. Now we have the internet.

Today we can create a Galt’s Gulch Online. We can build a freedom-friendly economy in a Public Square. We can create independent Freedom Cells of like-minded people around us. We can learn from and grow with others in a School of Life. We can envision new types of associations and governance such as a Network State.

Neither are we contrained to operate with the fiat currencies of central banks. We have Bitcoin, blockchain technologies, and other encryption technologies. Bitcoin champions know this, and embrace it.

And yet, there is still a profound and basic need to associate with others in close physical and geographic proximity. Fuel for our lives - be it food, gasoline, or a lively conversation among friends with food and drink - cannot be exchanged through a screen.

That is why many pursue an Exit and Build strategy. Or they join the Free State Project. Or they are attracted to the notion of a national divorce

What about those of us who don’t want to move? Or cannot move, for various circumstances of life?

The answer is, we must create our own Gulch around us. A Local Gulch.

If you embrace this vision, this website has been built to help you create this reality.

“The world you desire can be won. It exists. It is real. It is possible. It is yours.” – Ayn Rand (through John Galt)
